Some shaving cream has been put on a tray and i have show the children how they can manipulate it. Lucie can Squeeze it, use a finger to draw a picture or write a name. She can play and I have encourage her to be creative in what she was doing.
This activity is beneficial in many ways. It is tactile stimulation, which is very good if a childmine has a hard time dealing with weird textures or doesn’t like getting things on their hands. Eventually the fun of playing with the shaving cream overcame the initial discomfort. This also encourages conversation and creative play. During creative play a child learns to distinguish between reality and imagination. They learn that they can make something look like something else, for example they can draw a picture of a flower in the shaving cream .It could be a good idea to try with real aerosol cream so they can eat it as well!
A vet surgery this morning at the ray allen center....What a good role play!
A good idea ! paint with a ball by putting a little paint onto paper and letting the children roll a ball through the paint. Put the paper in a container to keep the ball from rolling away. Bowling with bumpers, a small tee ball for toddlers, and buckets for balls are all good ideas for this theme. Renew the experiences with many little cars...
I have just received a grant from kent county council to renew my ressources!here is our new lovely kitchen corner!
Play with plain, bubbly, coloured, warm or cold water teach lucie and L. that it pours, splashes, runs, soaks and feels cold in the end even if it's warm to start with. If she blows, it bubbles. Some things she puts in it float, some sink and some dissolve. It can be carried in things with no holes, but it leaks through a sieve or cupped hands and seeps through fabrics. The child will play in scale with the quantity provide, so while a paddling pool is glorious and a bath is obvious, a washing-up bowl on lots of newspaper, with small containers to fill and empty, and extras such as ice cubes, food colouring or a whisk, is good, too.
